Carlton is a summa cum laude graduate of Boston University and received his Master of Science in Taxation from Bentley College. He serves as Director of Taxes at Carlton & Duran.
Carlton is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants Federal Tax Committee which he has chaired, Personal Financial Planning Committee, Board of Directors and currently is chairman of the Professional Ethics Committee. He has been involved in presenting programs on technical aspects of federal taxation and on ethics in tax practice to CPAs throughout Massachusetts. He also is a member of a technical consultation area related to taxation on the state society’s web page.
Carlton is an appointed member of the Tax Practice Responsibilities Committee and the Quality Control Task Force of the Tax Division of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The committee is charged with the development and oversight of professional ethics in tax practice for certified public accountants throughout the United States.
Carlton was awarded the designation as a Certified Specalist in Estate Planning by the National Institute for Excellence in Continuing Education.
He has been interviewed and quoted in a number of newspaper articles. He was formally an adjunct professor of accounting at Middlesex Community College where he instructed the undergraduate course in Taxation. In previous years he has also taught accounting at Boston University.
He has been a long time member of the Board of Directors of the Bedford Chamber of Commerce and has served as the Chamber's Secretary/Treasurer. He is also a member of the Bedford Rotary Club since 1975 and served as its President in 1980-81. Carlton was selected by the Bedford Chamber of Commerce as its initial Business Person of the Year in 1989.
Larry and his wife Ellen currently reside in Bedford and South Harwich, MA. They have four wonderful daughters and dote over their five grandchildren.
